I trust that everyone that is reading my blogs has been enjoying themselves. I know I am still getting used to the blogging side of life.
Well, first off this week has been great. I just started working on the Grassroots outreach for the new Grateful Dead- To Terrapin '77 and the Winterland : The Complete Recordings ' 73. The Winterland box was an exclusive dead.net release but this is the first time available to retail stores.
I will try and break down what my job is with this release. I receive an email containing the title, the artist, press release, artwork, artists website links, release date, and the "listening party" links.
These links like this one, http://www.dead.net/to-terrapin-listening-party are a link to streaming audio, a limited run preview promotional item. A sneak preview of the album, in the case of the Grateful Dead a 3 discs (To Terrapin) or 9 discs (Winterland).
I take this material, compile it to make sense, then write my pitch and initial "hello" email. This I send to each individual site contact that is part of our 'Grassroots Database'.
The Grassroots is ground floor member of the Marketing Dept. We don't go for the rollingstone.com or billboard.coms', we target the more independently run websites.
I have a lot of fun with this, I find new sites to outreach to as well as find articles and hear about new albums from new artists.
Among my days doing this, I also, as I have mentioned in other blogs, continue to manage content for Rhinos Twitter accounts. www.twitter.com/Rhino_Ent which now has over 600 followers and www.twitter.com/damnfineday . Check them out and become followers, learn interesting musical and historical facts, birthdays, Trivia, and any breaking Rhino News.
Hope you received a better incite into my world at Rhino, and I am sorry if it has taken this long. Sometimes I do a lot that it is hard to explain lol. Enjoy and see you later this week for PART 2 dundunduunnnn...
