Kristen Oelke/Society of Singer/3-8-09

Today myself along with the other interns, all gathered to celebrate our Charley's birthday. At the party I was able to, for the first time, chat with alumni and students about whats really going on. I was able to get their feed back and advice on questions I had been having.

I was able to find out new ways to approach my job that I never even though about. Starting to get more active in the community for example I will be attending a LAWIM(Los Angeles Women In Music) seminar on Wednesday. And I was able to get re-focused on my goals I have for myself out here. Not that I ever lost sight of that, however everyone can always use a refresher. These students have the same goals and dreams as me, and the same drive.
I am one of the hardest working people I know. And being around other people my age that have that same determination is wonderful and all the more encouraging.

This week at my internship I have a list of three things I want to accomplish.
First, I want to put in at least one extra hour of work each day. I believe I should be there the same hours that my boss is.
Second, I want to bring something to the company, whether that be a donation for the event, or a name for one of their committees.
And third, I want to make myself needed. Now this goal can also stretch though out my time there, but I'm going to make sure 100% that my employers KNOW that they NEED me. I believe I have been doing that, at least I believe I have been. But now its time to make sure they know this.

I will write again next Sunday to give a update of my week and how my goals are progressing.
