Sorry about last week everyone, I've been extremely busy and wasn't able to post. I'll make up for it by re-capping the last two weeks. I've finally started doing more around the office. For a while it was pretty slow.
My week started off with emailing record labels that hadn't gotten their bands one sheets into us yet. The usual response is, "oh yeah, I'll get that to you right away", LIARS!! Their constantly missing their deadlines which makes our job much more difficult.
Every Thursday, I'm given the task of sending sales sheets to Soundscan so the bands know how many albums their selling throughout the country. We get sheets from every show the bands play telling us the name and address of the venue, how many albums were sold, and for how much.
Last Friday I put together ten promo packages to send to record stores. Meaning, I get ten copies of each album we need to send out, put them in an envelope, put on the shipping address, and mail them off.
Something else that happened on Friday didn't have anything to do with work but it was cool enough to share. Every once and a while, bands that are working with Caroline, Astralwerks, and Mute will come in and meet with a few people. Usually I never recognize any of them. That was until Friday. I was working as usual when a short bald guy wearing glasses walked in front of my desk. I glanced up, smiled at him and went about my business. About ten seconds after that I started to think that he looked very familiar. I kept trying to figure out why I recognized him but couldn't figure it out. Then it finally hit me. So I typed in the name of who I thought it was into google, and sure enough it was him, Moby. After he came out of his meeting and walked back past my desk I stood up and shook his hand, trying to be as polite and unabtrusive as possible. We exchanged hello's, talked for a few minutes, then he went off to another meeting and I went back to work. It may not sound that exciting but it made my day.
I'm very excited for this coming week because two bands that are managed by me will be joining me in lovely New York for a day. Their on their spring tour and have a show in Harlem on Thursday. I'll be sure to write about it next week.
Well, I think that's about it. Have a great week everybody.
