Yo Ya'll,
This week has been full of new and very exciting conversation. I'm finding that when you personalize your experience and participate in dialogue as if it's "your" business, it's much more invigorating as an intern. The ooh and ahh of being in L.A. has dissolved, however, it's opportunities are clearer. As an intern for AEMG and the companies involved, I've found that creating meaningful relationships is my sole responsibility, and not a day should go by without my attention to the world of new people, new connections, and new business all at my fingertips.
It should be said, that in no way should you expect a company to hold your hand through this process. Do not think of an internship as really anything more than what it is. An internship is an opportunity to gain WORK experience, which may mean that you spend an entire week (or more) doing not much more than data entry. But, even as an intern, the value of such work is, as our homegirl Charley would say, "indispensable." So, if you've been doing some mundane work for awhile, it's time to get creative and show 'em what you're made of, because that's what's is going to make you memorable.
Peace.
