Jeremy Horvath, week two with the SPCO

My second week with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra was a busy one.  I spend most of my time working with the Education Department.  During the week I helped schedule and coordinate the SPCO's Connect program.  Connect is an out-reach program that sends orchestra musicians to over a dozen urban schools.  Each school receives three different solo or ensemble performances from the SPCO each year.  They are given instructional and historical information and teaching aids about the music they hear.

The SPCO celebrated their final 50th Birthday celebration with three kids' concerts on Saturday.  I volunteered during the day and was able to see and participate in the day's activities.  It was great to see how they put together their events, very insightful.  The operation, development, education, and marketing departments work extremely efficiently with each other.

This next week should go quite smoothly.  I'm starting to understand the inner workings of the organization and how they are run.  Next week I will most likely split my time between the education and marketing department.  I look forward to learning more about the marketing campaigns for the orchestra's next season which is being developed.

Week two,
