This week was indeed a slower one for me. I spent a day filling in as assistant to the Film & Trailer creative, which was interesting. I will be filling that seat all next week, and welcomed the opportunity to sit-in. I continued to write pitches for new & upcoming releases for clients, many of which needed to be just a few bullet points. That really makes you analyze your subject and be very particular about what you say & how you present it.
Clients are often times extremely particular and are searching for specific materials. My main challenge from day 1 has been that I'm not familiar with WMG's huge database of licensable music. I'm trying to change that a little bit every day. Each day, I go into the vault and take a handful of cds that I'm unfamiliar with. When I get asked to do a pitch for something very specific, I often go to compilation cds. I have discovered many, many great things.
I start shadowing some of my co-workers next week, I'm looking forward to that!
On a more personal level, I have been shopping around town for licensing opportunities for the group that I manage, The Histronic. We were booked several large shows this month & business has grown with leaps and bounds, they are keeping me very busy.
I did get to check out Assscat this weekend, a improv-comedy theatre from the members of Upright Citizens Brigade (Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh, Amy Poehler). It was amazing & is going to be a regular sunday thing for me.
Peace everybody.
