Jeremy Horvath-SPCO-Week 6

This week was spent finishing contracts for CONNECT cultural partners and getting ready to launch the new SPCO season.  CONNECT is an outreach program that sends musicians (cultural partners) to urban schools with the intention of educating children in classical and cultural music. I spent a good amount of time getting contracts ready for this season.  It was very insightful to see how they go about contracting the musicians.

Wednesday I went to a Minneapolis elementary school with a viola player for a CONNECT visit.  It was interesting to say the least.  The music was great; she played three pieces on the viola and took questions.  The kids enjoyed the experience and were excited to learn more.  At the end of the first visit a little girl ran up to her teacher with her hands over her mouth, I knew this was a bad sign.  A second later, she lost her lunch.  I've never seen a school visit end in that manner.  The little girl was fine and the incident was soon forgotten.

Everything is going smooth with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.  So far its been a great learning experience.  Time is flying by!
