Hey,
Well, I am a day away from graduation with only one final left. I also am a week out from the next show and less than a week in from the last... It feels pretty good to be this busy, even if I am sick (no, no no, it doesn't seem to be swine flu...) because I haven't been getting enough rest/food. I guess this is the end of my stay at McNally Smith College of Music. The time here I believe has been spent well and I would have called you a liar if you had said I would be touring before I even graduated. Who could have known and who does know whats in store for me next. I am approaching each day like that; wondering how I got where I am and where I will be later. Don't get me wrong, I'll stay with this gig for a while if I possibly can. But, I don't think that this is quite the end of the road for me yet. Thanks to my teachers, colleagues, friends, family and everyone else I've met I think I can say that I am beginning a successful career as an Audio Engineer.

Jeremy Horvath-SPCO-Week 14
This is week was full of educational projects. I worked with the CONNECT program which is an outreach program that services 17 schools in the metro. Three times a year we send an SPCO musician or ensembles to educate students about music and its history. This week I put together informational packages that students will be receiving. It was a lot of counting and packaging, but for a great cause. Hopefully these students will be the next generation of musicians in our community.
The rest of the week was marketing meetings and tying up loose ends. Next week is my last with the SPCO. My time here has gone very quickly. It has been a wonderful experience full of great exposure to a large organization.

Ashley Stafford - Swinghouse - Week 14
Things were not as hectic this week as last week. Everything and everyone settled back down after the events last week. We're still remembering just how important it is to protect our clients.
I was able to make it out to two differents shows to mingle and try to get new clients. I went to The Dreaming and Lunarclick on Thursday and then She Wants Revenge and War Tapes on Friday. I was able to make some new contacts and hopefully some will come in to practice soon. We'll see.

Business is getting busy and I find myself not even considering it to be "school" work any longer. I feel that I have really made a place for myself there. I was asked to return next semester, however with no chance of turning this into a paid career I will have to return home to make a living for myself. But the offer is still on the table and I know I am welcome back any time (wonderful feeling). The ELLA is not less then one month away and it seems as though we have everything yet to do. I'm keeping things move along by keeping my "bosses" organized. I have realized that even the smallest of things do not go un-noticed there because it is so important that the ELLA runs as smooth as possible.
I received the gift bags from my school and they look wonderful (thanks Debbie)! Starting to collect more items for the raffle with every passing day. I have learned so much while working here I know believe that I could organize a successful fundraising event if I was ever asked to.
All for now but I'm sure I'll have much more to write about in the up coming weeks.

Theodore Smith - Lorie Line Music - Week 12
Well, it's now time to get ready for another Lorie Line tour. I will be leaving in under 5 hours and am contemplating on whether or not to even try sleeping... I'm not horribly nervous, I just know that getting is id going to be the closest thing to impossible I've had to do yet. I actually just finished my final project and had it mastered last night. It's insane to think that I started that project just over a week ago and don't even get a break before going on the road. I will be finishing my paperwork and finishing touches in between shows and at night after the shows. Basically on this tour, if I'm not loading/unloading, setting up/tearing down, or mixing; I will be working on my final project. I may allow myself a little time to actually see Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, Reno and wherever we stop in our travels. Well, off to finish preparing and packing. Wish me luck!
Jeremy Horvath-SPCO-Week 13
This week was busy. I was out of the office most of the week with a horrible cold. This is a busy time of year for the SPCO. There are many different types of offerings for single and group ticket sales being implemented.
Most of my work has been focused on Camp SPCO. We are getting close to the sign-up deadline and are hoping that we meet our goal. I have been contacting many of the participants from past years and there is a lot of excitement about this camp. We hope to fulfill our goals with the camp and have a successful showing. We have been working on the final details and logistics. Next week should be interesting. I can tell it will be the "make it or break it" for our planning.

Michael Powell, 4/20, Def Jam
Last week was the release of the Jadakiss album called 'The Last Kiss'. Allot of energy was focused on his project. Jadakiss had an album release party at the Highland ballroom, which was a big event. He landed number 1 on the charts after the first week.
I have been working a lot on the new videos coming out, making beta tapes and DVDs. I like doing this because I get to see the videos before they come out. A group called Players Circle has a video coming out called 'Stupid,' this is one of the videos I got a chance to see.
Recently I have been getting experience in photography. I am currently working on a portfolio so I can began taking pictures at different concerts for Def Jam Artists. This should be fun!
I'll keep everyone posted.

Joshua Stoll -Conway Studios- Week 13
It has been another slow week at Conway and we started another building project. I never though i would be learning construction while at Conway, but I am learning things that I would have to know if I was ever going to build a studio. This week we started building a porch outside Studio B and will continue on it tomorrow. There was one crazy day this week because there was as string section for a movie. Other then that the projects have been keeping us busy.
Ashley Stafford - Swinghouse - Week 13
This week was very busy around the studio. We had a few bands come in to practice for the Cochella Festival happening this weekend.
However the beginning of the week was a little stressful for everyone involved. Certain information was leaked on the internet about a very private, new client. Information about their gear and the fact that they were practicing at Swing House was released on Monday on their fansite. Tuesday morning their manager contacted Phil (studio owner) to let him know that it was online. Luckily Phil figured out and knew exactly who released the information so it has since been removed and none of the current interns or employees were blamed over the situation. The studio has now gone even more on lockdown then it was before. It just reminded everyone just how confidential the business really is. And that we need to protect our clients to the max. It was a very great lesson.

Trevor Weitzel - Universal MPLS
Hi everyone.
It's been a quiet week here at Universal. Just the usual routine. I can't believe that I have only two weeks left of this internship and of school. It's gone by so quickly, but it has all been a great experience and I have learned a ton of great stuff.
I looks like Brian Montour will be taking over my position here next semester. I think I will be training him in next week so that the transition goes smoothly for my mentor. I've definitely spoiled her by being here two semesters.
I also wanted to thank everyone who came out to my listening party in the cafe on Monday. I had a pretty decent turnout. I definitely gave away a ton of free cds. Just one of the perks of the biz!
Till next week...

Theodore Smith - Lorie Line Music - Week 11
Well, just received the itinerary for the next tour. I leave Wednesday and come back Monday. I will be unable to assist with packing the truck due to class, but will be unpacking and packing it plenty with shows in Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, and Reno! Until then I will be finishing my final project!
Well, more next week!
Well, more next week!

Today was the most busy I have been yet since I first started working for SOS. It is about one month now until the event takes place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. We are getting all of the ads together to put in the book that all of the guests receive the evening of the event. I have also been receiving many more ticket purchases that are to be filed. Lots of busy work! Phone is off the hook lately and Friday I am selling Cd's and more tickets for the event at Catalina Island.
My roommate Paul, is leaving this weekend so we are hanging out in the evenings. I have really enjoyed living with him and might be moving in with him again when I return to MN. I could not have asked for a better roommate. He and I have gotten along very well and I met some of his friends that live out here. I sure am going to miss him.

Paul Marshall Warner Music Group Week 13
Most of my week revolved around the upcoming releases of the latest Heaven & Hell disc, their first release since 1992. H&H is Black Sabbath minus Ozzy, plus Dio. I created a pitch for this album & sent it out to hundreds of clients, hoping to get placements in TV, film, and trailers.
I'm also constantly updating a massive database of films in production for the creative department here at WMG. There are so many films out there. It's a bit ridiculous, but I've learned who the prominent supervisors are, who I need to meet,
and who I want to work with.
I went to the Epiphone Golden God awards at Club Nokia last week, thanks to WMG. Club Nokia is a great venue, and I saw some interesting acts and several celebrities.
It was a slow week for me, I had a friend come to town and only had a half week. I've only a little over a week left here, and I have several large things happening at WMG between now and the 23rd. I will keep you posted!!

Joshua Stoll -Conway Studios-
Well this week was another slow week at Conway. We ended up doing more construction in the studios. We ended up tearing out a wall in studio A and mounted a bunch of amps in the wall it took us about two days. I was kind of worried about the construction we have been doing the last two weeks, but in the end Buddy (the owner) was very happy with the out come. He demands perfection so seeing that he approved of our work was a great achievement. Other then that nothing new to report.
Jeremy Horvath-SPCO-Week 12
This week I was in New Orleans. It was a wonderful trip! I just spoke with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and it was business as usual this week. I'm excited to get back and finish the planning for Camp SPCO. There is still a lot to do and deadlines are approching fast. The next two weeks will be extremely busy.

Jesse Volk - Pangaea Entertainment Group - Week 13
Hello! I love you won't you tell me your name...?
I'm extremely excited this very Easter holiday as I am headed off to the Roxy to see my new favorite band La Roux! 80's style synth pop with sweet melodies....check 'em out!
As far as work is concerned....My guy Joe (the executer) asked me to do a little A&R work for him to help alleviate some of his grueling to-do list. I listened to and submitted my opinions for more than 15 bands and actually found a really cool new group called Yes Giantess. They make me just wanna dance and sing! Check 'em out on myspace...it's crazy sing-a-long electro pop party music for the college kid in you...
MUSEXPO! Only a couple weeks away! Crazy! Can't believe it's almost here and the internship is almost done...
adios muy mucho!
Your pal,
Jesse

Ashley Stafford - Swinghouse - Week 12
Well for this week as far as the daily work at the studio, nothing too different happened. However I did go out to three different shows to try do to some promotions.
Last Sunday I went to see Puscifer with Sweethead @ Club Nokia. Puscifer is Maynard James Keenan's (Tool / A Perfect Circle) new project. And the show was even better then I expected. I got to meet Billy Howerdel (APC / Ashes Divide), Troy Van Leeuwen (APC / Queens Of The Stoneage / Sweethead), and Josh Freese (APC / Nine Inch Nails / Queens Of The Stone Age / etc...).
Then Wednesday I saw my friends in The Start open up for Julien-K @ The Roxy. This was probably my favorite show I went to this week. Plus during Julien-K's set Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) got up and did a couple songs with them. Then afterwards I got to talk to Ryan and Amir from Julien-K and I tried to convince them to practice at Swing House. I gave them my business card so we'll see what happens.
Finally last night I went to see Cold with The Killer and the Star @ The Whisky. I handed out some business cards and made some new possible clients and got to meet Cold again.
This has been a wonderful week.

Theodore Smith - Lorie Line Music - Week 9/10
Well hello to all,
Unfortunately, not too much has been happening on the Lorie Line side of everything for me. This is the lull before the storm (starting in a couple weeks it will be almost constant traveling and shows). However, everything else is extremely busy. I'm in the middle of the 4th semester project here at McNally Smith and also working there; plus, I'm doing a freelance work as well! So besides the three recording projects, work, freelance gigs, and school there isn't too much time left over for much besides sleeping.

Tyler Jones (Rhino) Week 11 & 12
Hello all,
Well as for week 10 (part 2 ) lets say that it never left pre-production. Nothing else really took place, the write got pulled to another project.
On to week 11, since I was busy and am still not always used to this blogging thing, unless I constantly write it down, I will will combine 2 weeks in one. Sort of like the double mint twins but not quite as cool or pretty.
It was a very good week I continued my outreach for The two Grateful Dead releases, as well as started working on preparing the copy for Genesis 1970 - 1975 (6 LP Vinyl Box) set we are releasing on Apr. 14th. This has been a great release to work on, as I am becoming obsessed with vinyl..
I would recommend for anyone that is interested in shopping for records and you are in, around or coming to L.A. for an internship.. It is required to go to www.amoeba.com and www.atomicrecords.com both are incredible. Rows and rows of used and new records..
I have a nice small collection going of some of my favorite bands.
On to more Rhino- with the Genesis, Grateful Dead and I almost forgot Erasure since the last two both came out today the 7th. get them at your local music store of amazon and iTunes.
Week 12 has been very good, mostly shipping out review and contest copies of Grateful Dead and Erasure. Continuing outreach for Genesis, and trying to keep up with my Twitter posting for www.twitter.com/Rhino_Ent and www.twitter.com/damnfineday . Check them out!!
I look forward to seeing what the new release that will end the month will be awesome. Genesis, Janes Addiction, and Heaven And Hell..
Will keep you posted and enjoy the awesomeness that is Rhino>>> www.Rhino.com
Keep it snappy and see you next week...

Paul Marshall- Warner Music Group- Week 12
As my time here at WMG is coming to a close, I'm shadowing people around the office and learning each and every step in licensing a song, from the artist to the client. This week I shadowed a deal-maker. There are many steps in the deal-making process, and it was very interesting to see how they operate. She made the sometimes complicated process very organized and she can really turn & burn licensing deals!
We didn't have many big releases for me to discuss this blog. I spent a majority of the week working with the Flo Rida, Static X, Mastodon, Single File and Stevie Nicks releases. It wasn't a very busy week for me! I was also out sick for a couple of days...
WMG's transition to digital music delivery, instead of physical discs, will make next semester's intern very happy, and I'm hoping to be replaced by another McNally intern!
I have fallen in love with 3 WMG artists from Mali, Africa. Ali Farka Toure is an amazing desert blues guitarist, Toumani Diabate is an amazing kora player, and Amadou & Mariam is a pop-reggae group. I consider Amadou & Mariam to be the Michael Franti of Africa. I strongly suggest aquiring "Welcome To Mali" by Amadou & Mariam, and "In The Heart Of The Moon" by Ali Farka Toure & Toumani Diabate.
See you soon MN!

Jesse Volk - Pangaea Entertainment Group - Weeks 12?
good day, hello, and all and all...
I can't believe that we're in the stretch run now...seems like just yesterday.
Last week was much to do of the un-glamorous side of glamorous; rock and roll is dirty and always 24-7. It's a good lesson though for those McNallians coming out to fantastic LA for an internship; be ready to get your hands dirty and be ready to do the little stuff and remember that this IS the music business.
The next four weeks are going to be out of control for me and all of the staff as we are getting into the thick of MUSEXPO and working as many hours as it may take to make every thing is right and ready to go. It shall be fun!
peace
Jesse

Joshua Stoll - Conway Studios-
This last week at Conway was very slow. I ended up taking Monday and Tuesday off to engineer paid sessions at La Bren Studios in Inglewood. On Monday I mixed a instrumental track and on Tuesday we tracks some vocals. At Conway on Wednesday and Thursday there were no sessions books so we hung some new baffles up in studio C's piano room. That was quite a chore. But we all made it out alive so we called it a success.
Ashley Stafford - Swinghouse - Week 11
This week offered me many new opportunities at Swing House. One of the opportunities is that we need to create a street team for the studio and that once it is in force I would be in charge of it. This would include going out to many different shows across the city and spreading the word about the studio. Just trying to get the name out there and bring in new clients. This is exactly what I have always wanted to do! I am very excited. I can't wait for this to start happening. This was a very exciting week for me.

Jeremy Horvath-SPCO-Week 11
This week went very smooth. I was working with the marketing team while trying to finish time sensitive material for the education department. A long standing musician with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra is having his fair-well concert this coming week. The SPCO does a great job of honoring them at their last performance with us. I helped put together over 1,700 mini flyers that will be handed out at his performance.
The rest of my time was spent on a large project that I started last week. I have a big role in setting up Camp SPCO, which is a weekend retreat for adult chamber musicians. This week was spent finishing the registration form and starting to format the weekends events. We've all been to events similar to these, but I never really understood what it takes to make it successful. We're dealing with grants and development, to operations and marketing. It is going to be a big project, but I'm extremely excited to see the project through.
Next week I will be in New Orleans and not sending out a blog. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Well I was actually fired from my internship today. Not sure how that's possible, however I made it happen....
APRIL FOOLS!!!
No things are going very well. I was given a task today to put together the information binder for all of our volunteers. The information that is included in these binders are, names, table numbers, floor plans, contact information for anyone that we may need to get in touch with the day of the event. I have also been working with my college in purchasing a table for the event. This is absolutely wonderful that this is possible and that my school will be able to get their name to more people in Los Angeles that may not have heard of McNally Smith yet. Also with that, with this happening it could open up other possible intern positions for future students.
To become more organized I purchased a blackberry phone and it has already come in great use. I can tell that this was a good buy for me in keeping myself and my career organized. I can not wait to use it more, and today I got much more of an idea on what the event will be like. I'm very excited to take place in such a wonderful event and to make the most of my time here.
